Dental Implants Provide A Lifelong Solution For Missing Teeth
Do you have missing teeth? You can get a complete, beautiful smile once again. Dental implants from Robert L. Holloway, DDS, are structurally designed like natural teeth. Once installed, dental implants act, feel, and look like your real teeth.
Wondering what to expect from the process? Our team is always happy to go over the basics of the treatment to avoid surprises down the treatment road.
Initial implant consultation
The first step is to book a consultation with Dr. Robert Holloway. We use digital x-rays to determine your candidacy for implant-based restorations. The objective of the initial appointment is to establish whether you have a healthy jawbone to support an implant. We also want to ensure you are free of gum disease for a successful outcome.
Pre-implant surgery
If you have insufficient jawbone, you will undergo bone grafting to add density and volume to your jawbone. In case you have more or several compromised teeth, these will have to be extracted to give way for dental implants.
Implant placement surgery
The process starts with numbing your gums to minimize pain and discomfort during treatment. Then, we install a titanium post at a precise location in your jawbone using state-of-the-art technology. Finally, we clean and suture the surgical site to pave the way for healing.
Healing and recovery
Your implant needs about 3-6 months to heal. During the recovery period, the jawbone grows around the implant through osseointegration. After fusion takes place, your implant is robust enough to anchor a crown or any other dental restoration.
Abutment placement
After healing, we perform minor surgery to install an abutment that connects your implant post to the dental restoration. This procedure requires at least two weeks of recovery.
Dental restoration placement
The final appointment involves topping off your dental implant with a natural-looking dental crown, bridge, or denture. Once your dental implant is set in place, your tooth replacement will look and function like you have 100% natural teeth.
